Netsparker Sponsors “Let’s Encrypt”, the free, automated and open Certificate Authority

Netsparker is happy to announce that it sponsored Let’s Encrypt, the free and automated Certification Authority.

Lets encryot

Today we are happy to announce that we sponsored Let's Encrypt.

What Is Let's Encrypt?

Let's Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate authority (CA), run for the public's benefit. The service provided by the Internet Security Research Group (ISRG). In other words, Let's Encrypt is a service which can provide you with a free TLS certificate so you can run your website on HTTPS.

Why Did We Sponsor Let's Encrypt?

Many of you might have noticed that all of our website was always on HTTPS. The reason is simple; we believe that your browsing session should always be private. There are several other reasons why it is recommended to encrypt the visitors' sessions, but that is out of the scope of this announcement.

Yet not every organization, especially startups and open source projects, have the budget to get a TLS certificate to run their website on HTTPS. So we joined companies such as Facebook, Cisco and several others in supporting this cause, to make sure everyone can run their website on HTTPS, in turn making the internet a better place.

Do you own a website? Go ahead and get your TLS certificate for free from Let's Encrypt. And if you contribute to an open source project, you can also get free web application security scans with our online scanner Netsparker Enterprise.

Getting Started with Let's Encrypt

Getting started with Let's Encrypt is very simple; no verification emails or calls, simple configuration and no payments. It is all documented in their How it works section. For more detailed documentation such as the Developer Guide, refer to their full documentation.
